Wow! We had a great time at Old McCaskill’s Farm event yesterday! It was Kathy’s Family Farm Day at her farm and, from our best estimate, there were a couple thousand people there. We didn’t have a minute to sit down from the time we set up our farm stand at 10:00 a.m. till we packed it all up at 6:00. We sold out of all our honey bear jars of honey, and sold 22 bars of soap, 22 pound cakes, 21 dozen cookies, and 1,062 honey sticks! We could have sold double everything, but we ran out!

Do you remember this quilt?

Well, a lady came by and grabbed it off the rack, held it to her chest, and declared that she just HAD to have it; it made her so happy! That’s the way art works, you know. It’s a very emotional thing. We are attracted to art that speaks to us, and it made me feel so good that my creation was taken home by someone who is happier because of it!

Speaking of art, I took some quilts and craft items that friends made, and sold some of those, too. When I have a stand alone permanent building here on the farm to use for our farm market, then I’ll be able to keep more of my talented friends’ fiber arts in stock. Can’t wait for that day to get here, but good things are worth waiting for, right?

Our farm market will be open this afternoon from 1:00-5:00 p.m. and we hope to see you there. We will have our $6 hexi jars of honey, fresh pasture raised hens’ blue and brown eggs, honey & beeswax soaps, quilts and crafts. And honey sticks, too! HA! While you’re here, visit our bunnies, lambs, and dairy goats before you head home. It’s a beautiful day on Fox Trot Farm!
(Farm tours are by appointment any day except Sunday.)
