What I’m Working On and a Surprising Cure

The cute little snap bags I’ve been making are a real hit, so I’m making matching tissue holders for them and will offer those as a set for gifts. The purse set is just $12 and I think it’s a perfect little gift for a teacher for Christmas, or just for a sursy for that special friend or favorite aunt. Right now I’ve made 14 from my favorite bee fabric, and I’ll be making more from all kinds of beautiful fabric.

Now, for a surprising cure! For about a year now, my ankle has been bothering me. It’s a ligament or tendon or muscle thing right on the outside of my ankle and it doesn’t ache…it BURNS. Well, I was at the feed store in Elgin a few days ago and there, sitting near the cash register on the counter, were tubes of veterinary liniment for horses. I had a couple people ahead of me, so I had time to pick up a tube and read the label.

Hmmmm…..sore muscle and joint pain relief….non-greasy….long lasting soothing warmth relieves joint stiffness and swelling…spearmint herbal gel….hmmmm……I wonder.

I bought one tube and brought it home and read the fine print: Do not apply under the saddle area if you’re going to ride the horse after treatment. Ok, I promise I won’t do that!

I rubbed the gel into my sore ankle and went about my business. At some point, I realized that my ankle wasn’t burning anymore! Wow! Now I use it all the time. It smells great, too!

Now, I’m not recommending that anyone use horse liniment on themselves but, if you have an ache or pain, and you just happen to accidentally get some on you and it works, well….that’s a good thing, right? 🙂

I found this at Elgin Feed in Lancaster County. I bet you can get this at Tractor Supply and most definitely online.

Just be sure not to use it under your saddle area. 😉

  1. Hmmm. I have developed tendonitis in BOTH my thumbs/wrist area (burning pain w/any use of thumb). Think it was from over using when my back went ‘out’. Using just fingers to do everything & they are getting sore now. Finally going to Dr. on Tuesday. Therapeutic Mineral Ice nor Biofreeze seems to help. Think I’ll stop by Tractor Supply to see if they have this.

    • Debbie, I’m sorry to hear you’re having thumb/wrist issues. Gosh…we need both of those for all the things we love to do, don’t we? Honestly, I don’t think it will hurt to try horse liniment, do you? WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR BACK? I didn’t know about that!
