Wow…is this ever going to be a fun day for us! Once again, our friend and farmer Kathy McCaskill has invited Fox Trot Farm to take part in her Fall Family Fun Day. This will be our third year and we are almost ready…labels made, boxes packed with lots of honey, soap, pottery, quilts….all kinds of goodies from our farm and from our friends! I’ve been getting text and Facebook messages asking if we are going to be there, so I thought I’d take a minute from preparations to let everyone know WE WILL BE THERE, and we look forward to seeing friendly familiar faces and meeting new friends, too!
Kathy’s Fall Family Fun Day is pure Americana…wholesome activities for families of all sizes and ages. Against the backdrop of a working farm with cows, pigs, chickens, goats, and sheep and a lovely B&B, you’ll find games and face painting for the kids, a pumpkin patch where they can pick out their own pumpkin, live music and delicious food, old time farm tools and implements to explore, historic demonstrations of traditional activities and, of course, we’ll be there with our farm goods to sell, and a lot of Kathy’s other farmer friends and craftsmen will be there, too.
This year, our friend and professional and very talented quilter Charmaine Ireland has provided us with a lot of her beautiful work to sell at incredibly low prices. She has also donated one of her most lovely quilts for us to raffle off, and her charity of choice is the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund for Puerto Rico. Tickets are just $3/each or $5/two tickets. Come see this beautiful quilt, purchase a chance to win it, and help one of Charmaine’s (and our) favorite charities.
We will have our honey bear coin bank jars, the collectible vintage corked jars, and a special ready-to-give gift basket containing an adorable corked jar full of honey and one of Granny Bee’s favorite buttermilk biscuit recipes! We’ll also have our yummy honey sticks in all your favorite flavors, and we’ve added watermelon, raspberry, and strawberry, too. We enjoy all the children who run up with their quarters to buy our honey stick treats!
I’ve been busy making soap with our honey and beeswax, and I have a new soap that I’m calling “Pumpkin Pie.” It smells and LOOKS just like cinnamon and clove spiced pumpkin pie and it’s the perfect addition to your guest bath for fall. It feels and SMELLS wonderful on your skin, and makes a great hostess gift, too! Pair it with one of our spa cloths and Dianne Mahaffee’s soap dishes..we’ll have those there, too.
Old McCaskill’s Farm is just a few miles south of Camden, SC, and an easy drive straight down HWY 521. We hope to see you there…come by and say hi, and then have a great Family Farm Fun Day!
